I do not know much on El-Al, but I do know that it is considered the safest. An El-Al plane has never been hi-jacked, which is significant considering Israel’s numerous enemies (and especially enemies will to resort to such tactics) over the years. The Entebbe hi-jacking was done on an Air-France flight, and not El-Al, which I think is telling.

This is just personal opinion but I would always choose ELAL. From what I’ve heard British Airways is a total nightmare. On ELAL you are getting heightened security and also it is the Israeli airline, and so will typically be more…. ‘lively’….! In a good way, that is!

ELAL has always had more cautious security measures than any other airline in the world.

Prepare for heavy security procedures,

Long queues and delays,

Probably a Personal background check when you order a ticket,

Surly, rude staff and awfull food…

Have a nice flight if you get approved.

I’m probably gonna get tons of thumbs down for this answer, but here goes…

El Al is an amazing airline, everything everyone has already stated above is true, HOWEVER, i fly extremely often and i have noticed that elal stewardesses are more arrogant, and less friendly then stewardess’s on British Airways for example. but hey, it’s not their fault, they’re Israeli!

I’m not stating that this is always true, I’m just mentioning that this is what i often feel. also, and this could be just because the flight to Israel from London is not so long, but we do very often get old planes…

all in all, I’d have to say, if security is an issue for you, definitely take elal, if you wanna feel like you belong, and are practically in Israel when you get on the plane, go elal, it’s great getting onto a flight and seeing Hebrew words, hearing the majority of the people talking in Hebrew etc… but if you want first class service whilst taking economy – maybe rethink about flying with elal.

PAPERBACK WRITER – last year i travelled to israel about 8 times in nine months. i started off with Elal and then got fed up with the rudeness of their workers and switched to British Airways despite it being more expensive. i have to say that it was not the same. flying elal is much nicer, for all the reasons i’ve mentioned above, but you can’t begin to compare the service. BA makes you feel like a king and Elal makes you feel like an unwanted piece of gum that got caught on their shoe.

Yes, I believe so. I always fly ELAL; they were the first airline in the world to have ’sky marshalls’ on board. Israel has the most experience and knowledge of Islamic terrorism as she’s been trying to combat it for decades.
